C.I.S.M Critical Incident Stress Management Support
24 HOURS – 0800 377 990
A Critical Incident or event often happens without warning and is traumatic, causing shock and possible delayed emotional disruptive responses and reactions.
People cope in different ways with the reality of a critical incident. It is helpful to the individual to have the opportunity to talk about their experience and how they are affected and to receive information as soon as is practical from a person trained in critical incident responding. This can be ‘one on one’ or within a group of others who have been affected. It is to enable calming and consideration of their personal needs, especially ongoing safety. We call this ‘a defuse’. Some individuals may need ongoing counselling to talk more about their thoughts and feelings. This would be available through your OCP programme.
OCP’s Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) provides assistance to employees directly or indirectly affected by a critical incident event and will manage issues/concerns for your employees covering:
- The type of the Trauma
- The type of responses/reactions
- Taking care of yourself
- Coping with emotions
- Defusing and Debriefing for employees
- Additional OCP Support
